C-P Systems
Proving the Value of Expert-Led Technical Marketing

C-P Systems is a process engineering consulting firm helping industrial and chemical manufacturers solve complex challenges through precise, practical engineering and design services.
With deep roots in chemical and process engineering, the company combines real-world industry experience with process expertise to deliver purpose-made solutions that reduce ambiguity, minimize rework and move projects more predictably from concept to completion.
The Challenge:
C-P Systems had significant engineering expertise and experience, but that wasn’t represented fully in their digital presence. They needed a guiding strategy, clearer messaging and a stronger digital presence to better establish their place in the market.
Without a clear way to communicate its expertise, C-P Systems struggled to differentiate in the market, get found for their core services, and create a consistent marketing presence.
The Solution:
TREW built a strategic marketing plan focused on C-P Systems’ goals, audiences, and best-fit channels. The plan balanced the need for short-term results with a full foundational overhaul, leading with some quick marketing wins while TREW developed messaging and refreshed the website.
The first marketing plan informed service and channel priorities and resulted in a flexible strategy, the execution of which was expanded and updated over several years.
Prioritizing the Right Channels, Content, and Campaigns
TREW started by defining C-P Systems’ marketing strategy and developing a detailed plan for year one. The TREW team took a comprehensive look at where C-P Systems stood in the market and where marketing could make the greatest impact.
The planning process combined background research, competitive analysis, industry best practices and TREW’s experience marketing to technical audiences with direct input from the C-P Systems team.
TREW's audit uncovered opportunities to:
-
Strengthen design and process engineering services content, particularly for piping design, industrial laser scanning, process safety, and process equipment design
-
Expand application content, focused on speciality chemical use cases
-
Showcase SME and project expertise
-
Support lead generation and sales opportunity goals through gated technical content
-
Reach core audiences through multiple channels, including organic and paid search, LinkedIn, industry publications, and Reddit
The TREW team developed three integrated campaigns with priority channels, topics, KPIs and budgets, along with a detailed 12-month activity plan, which covered everything from website and messaging updates to technical content, LinkedIn editorial calendars, email programs, videos, and campaign support.
The plan balanced strategic foundational work with the need for leads and marketing results, using some early Google ad campaigns and channel trials to reinforce strategic directions before initiating full, multi-channel campaign execution.
TREW continued to revisit the plan through quarterly reviews and annual updates, using performance data to determine what to refine.
Building a Brand Around Process Engineering Expertise
The strategic focus continued into developing a clear brand and messaging foundation that would inform all downstream content and marketing activities.
TREW conducted in-depth customer interviews and an independent messaging audit to better understand how C-P Systems was perceived in the market, what customers valued most, and where the company had opportunities to differentiate.
From there, TREW led C-P Systems's leadership through five positioning sessions to define and sharpen the company’s story. Together, the teams developed a corporate brand foundation that included:
-
Positioning statement
-
Defined tone and voice
-
Three key differentiation pillars
-
30- and 60-word pitches
-
A new About Us narrative
The process aligned leadership and execution teams around a shared position and the new messaging gave the team a consistent framework for how to communicate across all channels, helping turn the company’s deep engineering expertise into a clearer and more cohesive market presence.
Turning Technical Knowledge Into Trusted Content That Converts
The content strategy centered on turning C-P Systems’s engineering expertise into useful, educational content that could support buyers, strengthen the website and improve company and service findability through search channels.
TREW’s technical writers partnered with C-P Systems SMEs to develop white papers, technical blogs, case studies, FAQs, and service and industry pages. Together with the earlier brand and messaging work, this content helped strengthen key website pages and improve their visibility in search results.
A key focus was also lead generation. Through TREW’s work partnering with C-P Systems experts, 4 gated assets were written resulting in more than 300 downloads in 2 years.
Delivering Results
C-P Systems built a stronger marketing foundation with clear positioning and messaging, channel-specific marketing processes, an expanded website, and a consistent, expert-led content program. Over the two years that TREW guided C-P's marketing program, we saw the following results:
0%
Growth in Total Website Traffic
0%
Growth in Form Submissions
0%
Growth in LinkedIn Followers
A Newfound Confidence in the Power of Technical Marketing
At the start of the engagement, C-P Systems was skeptical about the role marketing could play in the business. Marketing had historically been limited, and there was not yet a strong internal infrastructure or clear proof that investing more heavily would produce meaningful results.
TREW built that foundation from the ground up, sharpening C-P Systems’ positioning and messaging, strengthening the website, creating technical thought leadership and case studies, and putting more structure around planning, reporting, and channel execution.
As the program gained traction, that skepticism disappeared. C-P Systems saw an increase in qualified leads, improved search visibility for core services, stronger audience engagement, and clearer evidence that marketing could support business growth. That progress gave the company confidence to invest even more, ultimately hiring a full-time Marketing Director to continue their marketing growth.
Through our work with Erin Moore and TREW, we built a new brand identity, redesigned our website, grew our LinkedIn presence, and developed case studies and thought leadership content that moved the needle for our business.
Erin even selflessly helped us get to the point where we were able to bring more of our marketing in-house, going above and beyond to set our internal team up for success. I would strongly recommend Erin as a marketer and business leader.
