Building a Scalable Marketing Foundation to Drive Long-Term Growth

Polytron is a systems integrator based in Georgia that specializes in automation, controls, and process solutions in the food & beverage, chemical, and consumer packaged goods sectors.

Named a 2024 System Integrator of the Year by Control Engineering, Polytron is known for its collaborative approach to solving complex business challenges, deep manufacturing expertise, and long-term relationships with clients and partners.

 

The Challenge: 
 

With a long-time solo marketer retiring and the marketing landscape rapidly evolving, Polytron needed to quickly level up their marketing strategy, systems, and execution to support near-term priorities and long-term growth. 

The Solution: 
 

We partnered with Polytron on marketing planning and implementation to build a strong, scalable foundation—clarifying positioning, modernizing tools and channels, and refreshing the website while also executing short-term campaigns to raise awareness and generate leads. 

 

Laying the Strategic Groundwork

 

With their solo long-time marketing practitioner retiring and so much changing in the marketing landscape, Polytron decided it was time to ramp up their marketing efforts. They reached out to TREW Marketing to engage in marketing planning followed by a year-long retainer focused on establishing a strong marketing foundation for future growth while increasing awareness and generating leads for the most critical areas of the business in the short term.  

During marketing planning, TREW worked closely with Polytron leadership to understand business goals and priorities, identify key markets, and build out target audience profiles. Then, we completed a comprehensive marketing audit and competitive analysis to identify key gaps and opportunities. Finally, we brainstormed content themes, discussed marketing channels and activities, and aligned on what success looks like with the leadership team.

From there, we were armed with everything needed to create a comprehensive marketing plan complete with marketing goals and objectives, a detailed activity plan to meet those objectives, and a scorecard to track progress along the way.

From Strategy to Execution

 

After completing marketing planning, TREW moved right into implementation, focusing on strengthening Polytron’s marketing foundation for the first several months with projects including:

  • Brand positioning and messaging: Using voice of customer interviews and leadership workshops to flush out differentiation pillars as well as consistent corporate pitches, segment messages, and a full company narrative.
  • HubSpot onboarding and implementation: Implementing marketing automation, including CRM integration, to power future marketing initiatives, track results, and establish lead flow processes
  • Website refresh: Making small but significant copy and design updates to all tier 1 and 2 pages while maintaining the core site structure, performing a home page and navigation overhaul, and content cleanup
  • Social media strategy: Establishing an editorial calendar for growing and engaging followers on LinkedIn with relevant content and commentary on services, automation tips and best practices, and posts highlighting the Polytron team

With the foundation in place, we were able to move on to executing integrated campaigns and content development around a few differentiated services, including smart manufacturing and MES, machine safety, and capital projects.

Delivering Results

 

Polytron ended the year with new marketing processes and tools, a website and messaging that reflected their differentiation and expertise, fresh content around key service areas, and a cleaner database with new contacts starting to come in. They saw 22% year-over-year growth in Web sessions, 16% growth in LinkedIn followers, 37% growth in LinkedIn engagement rate, and baselines for leads and new contacts.

Forming a Multi-Year Partnership Built for Momentum

 

Following the success of this initial engagement, Polytron renewed their partnership with TREW, shifting the focus from foundational work to sustained execution and optimization. Throughout year two, TREW continued to support Polytron with ongoing marketing planning, campaign execution, content development, website updates, and HubSpot support while ensuring marketing stayed aligned with evolving business priorities and growth goals.

As results continued to build and marketing became more embedded across the organization, Polytron once again extended this relationship. Now entering a third consecutive year working together, TREW remains committed to supporting Polytron’s long-term growth through consistent strategy, execution, and collaboration.
