Improving Web Performance with SEO and Usability

Written by Wendy Covey | 3/19/20 3:00 PM

We all want to attract qualified visitors to our website and provide them with an amazing experience, one that builds trust and reflects positively on our brand. Learn how to assess the performance of your website, weave SEO and usability into content planning, and tips for fast fixes to simple issues your site may have.

In her role as Vice President of Account Services, Denise Goluboff and her Boston Digital team constantly study trends and techniques which make a HUGE impact on website performance. This podcast drills into two of those areas -- SEO and usability.

Here are some of the highlights from this episode:

Matching your company's solutions with your buyer's needs is a great starting point for content planning, but studying the exact phrasing most frequently used is part of the "SEO magic dust" that boosts search results. Industry software tools (see resources list below) can be used to uncover easy technical fixes such as missing tags and other metadata which also boosts results.

Helping prospects find your website is only the beginning. To provide a stellar experience, much thought should go into your site structure. Denise and I discuss various tactics for this, and Denise cautions against a mistake she sees many larger companies make -- organizing their site to match internal business units or silos that don't have meaning for the visitor.

Denise and I have worked on and off together for 20 years(!) and have lots of great stories. One of them has to be a web strategy presentation we gave together for a multinational oil and gas company. Knowing that most of the audience was English/Spanish bilingual, Denise brought out the big guns when she slid into Spanish during Q&A. The group was highly impressed not only that this blue-eyed, blonde-haired Oklahoma-native was quite fluent, but that she spoke in a flawless Argentinan accent (courtesy of her husband's South American roots).
