Q&A with Katie Borel

By Katie Borel

headshot 5I am a new member of the TREW Crew and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and explain how I came to join TREW Marketing.

Where do you come from?

I have been fortunate enough to have grown up in Austin TX.  Growing up in Austin has allowed me to see and experience the transformation it has undergone throughout my life.  Despite having been to many cities across the country I have always been drawn to Austin and its magnetic atmosphere.

What do you do for fun?

I like to take advantage of good weather whenever I have the opportunity, so I tend to spend a lot of my time outdoors. I enjoy hiking along the greenbelt, going to national parks, and swimming in Barton Springs.  In addition to the outdoors I also like to take advantage of Austin’s diverse food scene.  There are so many options and I try to visit one new place a week.

How did you become interested in marketing?

I initially knew very little about marketing.  My Bachelor’s degree is in communication with a concentration in public relations and advertising.  I had several friends who entered the marketing world and their work seemed exciting and diverse.  This sparked my interest, so I began to explore different aspects of marketing and eventually landed an internship with TREW Marketing where I got to take a closer look at marketing.  I really loved the work I was doing and the challenges that went along with it.  I was fortunate enough to have my internship turn into a job opportunity where I get to continue learning about the marketing field.

What will you bring to the TREW Crew?

While I am new to the marketing world, I do possess skills which have benefited me throughout my life that I think are transferrable to the field.  The first being that I have always been a curious person with a strong desire to learn. This desire has resulted in my love of organization and research.  I like to go beyond just a rudimentary understanding of things, I want to understand why something works and what goes into making it successful.  In addition to my curiosity I also have a very strong work ethic.  It is important to me that my work is a reflection of my best effort.  I strive to make sure my work is well researched, organized, and delivered on time. I think together these skills work to make me a beneficial member of TREW Marketing.
